Once a year, Dreams Happen challenges architects and builders to create their vision for the modern playhouse, which will then be auctioned off for charity. This year, Walker Warner teamed up with Lencioni Construction and Daedalus Structural Engineering to design and build the Push, Pull, Explore Playhouse.
The Playhouse blends seamlessly into the yard as a refined piece of architecture that can easily adapt from the needs of toddlers to teenagers. At first glance, the playhouse structure appears to be an elegantly detailed, yet simple shed with a painted steel frame and weathered resawn cedar siding. Upon further exploration, the structure can expand to roughly twice its original length, revealing new opportunities for adventure. Stepping inside, a small ladder leads up to a hatch through the roof. The upper level includes a floating net—the perfect spot to stargaze. A 2’x8′ bench doubles as storage, making sure all toys are put away at the end of a long, playful day.
