This Year’s Diversity in Architecture Scholarship Winners

We’re thrilled to share the results of this year’s Diversity in Architecture Scholarship. For the second time, we have awarded the scholarship to two outstanding candidates instead of one.

This $5,000 scholarship, renewable annually for students enrolled in an architecture program, aims to support individuals from historically underrepresented groups, contributing to a more inclusive environment within our field.

Our 2024 winners, Malik Louis and Melissa Gomes, each have a unique and inspiring background that informs their architectural pursuits.

Malik, a veteran who served in the Air Force, spent significant time stationed in the Azores. His military service helped fund his educational aspirations, and he is now eagerly moving forward with his lifelong dream of becoming an architect.

Melissa’s journey in architecture began in her childhood. Born in Guatemala and raised in Berkeley, she was immersed in the world of building and design from a young age, influenced by her father’s career as a contractor.

Please join us in congratulating both students—we are excited to see how their distinct perspectives and experiences will enrich the field of architecture.

Details about the 2025 scholarship application process will be available in the Fall.
